Financial Analysis of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasma

"Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah" telecasts on Sony Sab from Monday-Friday at 8:30 p.m. This TV serial is based on the concept of "Unity in diversity", one of the features of Indian tradition. The story revolves around 7 families belonging to different states of the country. Seven families viz. Jethalal & family, Mehta & family, Sodhi & family, Iyer & family, Hathi & family, Popatlal , Bhide & family.

Seven families reside in Gokuldham society, Goregaon. Everyone tries to help one another other in his/her difficulties. Jethalal, the lead character gets into trouble more often than not and his fire- fighter helps him. Mehta becomes his fire- fighter, his best friend. Daya, wife of Jethalal, stands by his side in his thick and thin times. Jetha's father, Champaklal always teaches his son and grandson "Tapu" moral values. Bhide, secretary of Gokuldham adheres to his principles and is nostalgic about his school days which is actually shown in a humorous manner. Popatlal, the reporter of "Toofan Express" always tells that he will shake everyone's world. Natukaka and Bagha employees of "Gada Electronics" owned by Jethalal too possess awesome comic timing.

This TV serial is novel from the rest of Indian Saas-Bahu TV series. I would also like to congratulate this serial on completing 2000 episodes. Even PM Narendra Modi nominated co- stars of "TMKOC" for Swachh Bharat Mission. This shows how it has penetrated into the Indian housholds.

"Law of large numbers" is the concept very familiar in the finance world. It states that as and when company grows bigger in size, it becomes really difficult for it to continue its dream run. It attains its saturation point from where it grows in single digit in line with the GDP of that country. The same concept applies to countries ,"China" being the latest example.

Having entertained the crowd for about 8 years, I feel this TV series has entered into a maturity phase. I have seen number of episodes on the basis of which I came to a conclusion that it is a repeat of same old monotonous stuff : Police station, festivals, Popatlal's marriage futile efforts, Tapu sena's arrangement of different festivals, women empowerment etc. All these topics are really good but it is now rhymed in one form or the other.

If I extrapolate this into the future as well, I feel this serial is overrated depending on the present circumstances. In other words, if it was a stock, I would have rated it as "sell".However, if the production team brings into the new stories which are not rhymed like in the past, then this TV series can easily make 2000 more episodes.
